Well, I guess you guys really loved the Widow Army idea! If I’m honest, your feedback really caught me off guard. I wasn’t prepared to move on this idea yet. However, I don’t want to leave you hanging, so I quickly created a Facebook group called The Widow Army. If you search for it in the search bar on Facebook you’ll need to click on the search “groups” section which is just under the search bar. You may have to scroll to the left to find “groups.”
Right now it’s a public group so you can all find it. If we get too many trolls or creeps, I can make it a closed group. Invite your friends. This is for widows, widowers and our allies. For now, it’s a safe place to discuss the daily challenges and victories of widowhood. We aren’t going to sell anything, we aren’t counseling, we aren’t a dating site (gross), and we aren’t a negative space. This is an additional safe space to lift one another up with encouragement and understanding.
Eventually, maybe it can become what I hope for, which is a place to connect with widows in our own communities so we can help one another out with the tasks that are just easier with an extra set of hands.
For now though, it’s just another place to commune, to be understood and to be supported.
